Lesley selected for Pathway Coach Development Programme 2018

A group of 17 coaches have been selected for the Swim England Pathway Coach Development Programme for 2018. These include Lesley Batson of Putteridge Swimming Club.

The aim of the programme is for coaches of age group athletes (10-14yrs) to get together, share best practice and develop their technical and soft skills. They will then be able to take what they have learned, and use it to benefit their swimmers. They will also pass the knowledge on to other coaches in their club, and the local club network.

Five workshops will be delivered over the 14 month programme. These cover topics such as self-awareness and reflective practice, coach athlete relationships and more.

Pathway Coach Development Programme

Lesley has completed her first year as Beds ASA County Head Coach. She has planned and delivered 4 workshops for the County’s top 11 year olds and along with the County Development Team, attended the National forum in Nottingham to see where the County Programme is going next year. She hopes to continue the role in 2018.

Lesley was also selected as a Skills Coach on the East Region Talent Camps and the Swim England National Phase one Camps for the East this year. This was completed last weekend, delivering a total of six training sessions for the Regions best swimmers since September.

Lesley has now also just been selected as 1 of only 20 Coaches from across England for Swim England Pathway Coach Development Programme 2018-2019...

Lesley selected as East Region Skills Coach

More great news for Putteridge Swimming club as Head coach, Lesley Batson is selected as Skills coach for the East region Talent camps.

The East Swimming Talent Camp forms the entry level towards the ASA England Programmes Pathway. It provides an opportunity for swimmers within the Region to develop through an aligned approach using programmed activities which then prepares for a possible entry into the England Programmes or potentially onto the World Class Programmes.

The selection policy provides a clear approach to identifying swimmers, coaches and support staff to attend the outlined programme activities.

Notification from Head Coach

Firstly, congratulations to our Arena league Team who came 3rd in the 1st round in Braintree! Well done to all it was a great atmosphere! Secondly, there are quite a view notifications and information that you need to make note of for the coming weeks. Many, if not all will be posted on our website but I suggest you print this and keep for future reference.

1. This weekend 15/16th October – NO TRAINING at Inspire due to another event both Saturday and Sunday. Alternative training at Lea Manor Saturday 7-8am and Sunday 12-1 (All those competing at Winter Regionals please could you try to make the sessions).

End of Season Open Meet

The beginning of July saw PSC Mainstream compete in their final event of the season. With 40 swimmers there was alot of orange on poolside. The event itself had a great atmosphere hence the ‘conga’ on poolside. The swimmers had been training alongside our National swimmers and their performance at the event was amazing. It saw:

 73 PB’s from 112 entries, 23 medals (6 Gold, 6 Silver, 11 Bronze) as well as  a number of long course club records set.

It was an absolute pleasure to be supporting our swimmers at this event, the pb’s they set were not small pb’s there were so many happy swimmers and was a very fitting end to again PSC’s best seaon ever for the clubs performance, just the British Summers ASA summer Championships and the Welsh Nationals to go, I am so pleased for them all, ...
