PSC Online coaching duding Covid-19 epidemic

A massive thank you to everyone at PSC for responding YES in support of our proposals to deliver online coaching and support during the Coronavirus epidemic.

Your amazing support will not only help to stay afloat financially during the crisis but moreover, will enable us to stay connected, engaged and able to help you in anyway we can as we all navigate our way through these challenging and unprecedented times.

I am delighted to report that Lesley and Lawrence have already started to deliver our amazing online service and it is a credit to both of them, our Committee and our Management Team, that we were able to respond so quickly and effectively.

COVID-19 Statement by Club Chairman

Dear Members,
COVID-19 OUTBREAK

We are clearly in un-chartered waters when it comes to the current situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak throughout the world.

At Putteridge Swimming Club our first priority is the health, safety and welfare of all of our members, their families, our coaches and volunteers. To this end, we have taken onboard all the advice of the UK government and Swim England where this has been forthcoming. We review the position daily and our Committee is in constant contact.

However, given these unprecedented times, no clear direction for swimming clubs has been forthcoming and it is up to us to decide on an operational stategy moving forward. A massive consideration for PSC and all swimming clubs throughout the UK is simply, survival...

Covid-19 Coronavirus

Government guidance has been updated 13/03/2020 as we move from “containment” to “delay”. The advice does not alter the operation of our Spring LC National Qualifier Meet, but may apply to each of you as individuals. Self-isolation requirements have changed. If they apply to you (i.e. you have a fever or a cough, regardless of travel or contact) then please do NOT attend our meet.

In light of the current outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Swim England East Region has reviewed its current position, and has issued the following statement to share information to ensure all possible precautions are taken:

“Our current events are still going ahead as planned, and the welfare of anyone attending Swim England East Region events is of paramount importance.”

Ahead of our Open Meet...

Coronavirus

We are closely following Public Health England’s guidance regarding the Coronavirus.  The current guidance does not recommend any suspension of normal activities by the general public but recommends thorough hand washing and use of alcohol-based sanitiser which is being provided in centres – unless people have been to a specific list of affected places/areas when self isolation is required.   The latest guidance can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

The welfare of all our athletes, coaches, workforce and volunteers is of paramount importance.

Junior League – Well Done Little Putts!

The Junior League Competition is spread over 3 rounds in June, July, and September. It is an excellent team building activity where our swimmers learn to race hard for each other and our club, rather than worrying about PB’s and qualification times.

On Saturday 14th September our little Putts headed to Maidenhead for the 3rd round of Junior league – the final gala and opportunity for PSC to gain promotion!

We had tough competition from the other teams, some races being won on the touch!

Thanks to all our swimmers for being such great ambassadors for Putteridge Swimming Club and demonstrating such great team spirit.

PSC were promoted to the next league for the second year running, demonstrating the skills and behaviuor we ask of our swimmers through all three rounds.

British Summer Championships

So pleased for Lawrence today – not winning bronze – but achieving two 1.01 again in 100 breast at British summers. After a popped rib and back spasm in March and not being able to compete in Marseille but then having to compete at British Champs way below where he should have been, (in pain to rank qualifying times for these Championships) then, to compete in Barcelona Paris and Rome to try and regain lost race pace training below par, and where we would have liked him to be at this time, the frustration, feeling low but behind the scenes the sheer determination to pull something back from the last 7 months and a smile from both of us today to swim those times again to persevere, paid off.

Sense of satisfaction now and hopefully for me, dare l now say, in my own little bubble world, try ...
