Junior League – Well Done Little Putts!

The Junior League Competition is spread over 3 rounds in June, July, and September. It is an excellent team building activity where our swimmers learn to race hard for each other and our club, rather than worrying about PB’s and qualification times.

On Saturday 14th September our little Putts headed to Maidenhead for the 3rd round of Junior league – the final gala and opportunity for PSC to gain promotion!

We had tough competition from the other teams, some races being won on the touch!

Thanks to all our swimmers for being such great ambassadors for Putteridge Swimming Club and demonstrating such great team spirit.

PSC were promoted to the next league for the second year running, demonstrating the skills and behaviuor we ask of our swimmers through all three rounds.

British Summer Championships

So pleased for Lawrence today – not winning bronze – but achieving two 1.01 again in 100 breast at British summers. After a popped rib and back spasm in March and not being able to compete in Marseille but then having to compete at British Champs way below where he should have been, (in pain to rank qualifying times for these Championships) then, to compete in Barcelona Paris and Rome to try and regain lost race pace training below par, and where we would have liked him to be at this time, the frustration, feeling low but behind the scenes the sheer determination to pull something back from the last 7 months and a smile from both of us today to swim those times again to persevere, paid off.

Sense of satisfaction now and hopefully for me, dare l now say, in my own little bubble world, try ...

Mother and daughter join Ross Edgley for last mile

PSC’s mother and daughter team Carina and Georgina Quayle joined Ross Edgley for the last mile of his 155 day swim around mainland Britain.

“It was brilliant. Georgina and I registered at 6:30 am briefing at 7:20 am and then straight into the freezing cold water. We swam out about 750 m, with about 300 others, waited at the buoy until Ross swam in towards us, we gave him a big cheer and then we were all swimming in together until 200 m from the end where we were treading water while he swam the last 200m by himself so the media could photograph and interview him. The sun was shining as we swam in, the tide was coming in and it was so brilliant. It was great to be part of history in the making”

A huge congratulations to Carina and Georgina for their part in Ross’s huge and historic achievem...

Negative Effects of Snapchat for Teens

Dear members

The use of social media/snap chat poses us with many issues in society, something our club is not immune from. Over recent months we have tightened our control of social media posts with Facebook controls and other policies. However snap chat is a form of communication that is harder to police as a parent let alone a club such as ours.

Of late I am sorry to say that Welfare have received a number of complaints due to social media and snap chat. Can we ask that as a parent you learn more about snap chat, for example posts will disappear from view after a period of time. As with any social media activity there is no tone and situations can escalate quickly  and before you know it Welfare are embroiled in investigation and action when necessary.

The reason I ask is that we hav...
