Putteridge Swimming Club – Swimming to success!

PSC Swimmer

Last weekend our 52 swimmers competed in the first of this year’s Bedfordshire County age group swimming competition and it saw some of our youngest “Putts” taking to the water in their very first counties. They did not disappoint. With multiple PB’s, finals and medals across both our 10-11 year old boys and girls, it was the boys who stole the show in their 10-11 4×50 meter medley relay coming home with a fantastic bronze medal, not only a bronze medal and a first for each of the four boys, Elliott, Oscar, Archie, Kamil, but beaming smiles returned to the PSC base.

Success in the pool didn’t just come in the form of times and medals but in the skills performed. With hours of hard work in the pool focusing on small aspects of the stroke and races we saw numerous improvements across the team. Thanks to the hard work of Lesley securing more block time at Inspire, dives were vastly improved giving many of our swimmers an edge in the 50’s, it’s the small tweaks that matter the most. Time well spent!

Not all of our success came in the pool. All coaches and team managers were pleasantly taken back with the professionalism and maturity shown by all as Pre-Pool, one of the most important aspects building up to racing, was carried out, often with older swimmers helping out the younger more nervous swimmers. A big step in the right direction, keep it up for the weekend of racing to come!

Many of our swimmers achieved personal best times across the speed seeded 50/100m heats from which the top eight fastest in each age group progressed to Finals, and the 200/400m events which used heat declared times to determine placings.
