2010 - Luton Long Distance County Qualifying Open Meet |

Seven Piranhas took part in the Luton Long Distance County Qualifying Open meet on Sunday 10th January in 17 events and the results were: 10 new PB's, 3 new County times, 2 1st positions, 6 2nd positions and 4 3rd positions in their heats. Full results are posted in the members area. |

From 1st January 2010 all competitions in England, Scotland and Wales will be applying the FINA rules in relation to Swimsuits for swimming (excluding Masters and Open Water) competitions. What’s this mean for Piranha swimmers? Competitor’s swimwear shall be in good moral taste, suitable for the individual sports disciplines and not to carry any symbol which may be considered offensive. All swimsuits shall be non transparent.In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit. Men’s swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials. The referee of a competition has the authority to exclude any competitor whose swimsuit or body symbols do not comply with this Rule. |

Luton Aquatics Centre Public Consultation |

Luton Borough Council are about to start the next phase of public consultation on the project, the last before the planning application is put in early in the new year. Members can view the consultation flyer in the download area however there is also a website www.lutonaquaticcentre.co.uk that includes all the information from the exhibition and the opportunity to have your say on line. The aim is to involve as many people as possible in the consultation so the exhibition will be in St Georges' Square on Thursday and Friday, as well as in Stopsley on Wednesday and Saturday. |

Piranhas on European Christmas cards |

Who would have guessed a few months ago that a small club like Putteridge Piranhas would be in front of all the good and great in swimming across the world! Well LEN, the European governing body of swimming, will be using a photograph of one of our swimmers and the words of another swimmer on their 2010 Christmas cards. |

Putteridge Piranhas ate Huntingdon Piranhas in the Piranhas challenge gala. 17 PB's and 14 County times were achieved by the Putteridge swimmers. Luton swimming club attended as special guests and won the gala overall,with Putteridge coming second and two teams from Huntingdon coming third and fourth. Members can access the latest PB list by logging in to the members area. |
